Highlands struck with one in the first inning. But Simon Kenton tied it up in the bottom of the frame then scored twice in each of the second, third and fourth innings to build a 7-1 advantage before holding off a Bluebird rally.
Highlands outhit Simon Kenton, 10-8. Kyle Rust, Trey Bowden, Mark Walkenhorst and Sam Hennigan had two hits each for Highlands. Walkenhorst had two runs batted in.
Ricky Raisor (3-3 overall) took the pitching loss for Highlands. He pitched into the fourth inning before Ethan Doty took over. Raisor struck out three and walked two. Doty struck out three.
Highlands plays host to Bishop Brossart on Monday. Game time is 5 p.m.
