The Highlands Ladybirds softball team recorded a huge win Thursday on the road.
Highlands (7-6 overall) defeated the state power Greenwood Lady Gators, 6-3 in Bowling Green. Greenwood (11-3) owns three state championships including an impressive 44-0 campaign in 2013.
Shelby Graybill homered for Highlands and the Ladybirds scored three times in the top of the seventh. Brennah Dutcher singled one in after an intentional walk to Graybill before Rachel Gabbard had a two-run single.
Highlands plays a doubleheader against two Ohio teams on Saturday. The Ladybirds face Cincinnati Turpin at 11 a.m. before facing Springboro at 1 p.m.
