Ladybirds finish third in Uncle Pete Noll Classic

The Highlands Ladybirds (6-5 overall) took third in the Uncle Pete Noll Classic at River City Park with two wins Saturday.

Highlands finished pool play with an eight-inning 11-10 comeback win over the Mason County Lady Royals. Bailey Spencer earned the win in relief allowing one hit and two walks to go with eight strikeouts in seven-plus innings.

Morgan Coffey scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Taylar Lorenzen reached on an error with the bases loaded to end the game.

Highlands outhit Mason County, 13-8 and had no errors to five for the Lady Royals. Shelby Graybill, Haley Coffey, Brooke Dill and Josie Daley had two hits each. Daley and Graybill had one double each.

The Ladybirds then beat Ryle, 7-1 in the third place game. Highlands moved to 2-0 in 9th Region play with the win.

Highlands travels to undefeated Bullitt East (9-0) on Tuesday. Game time is 5 p.m.
