The Highlands volleyball team went 2-1 on the second day of the Jefferson County Invitational Volleyball Tournament at the Ohio Valley Volleyball Center in Louisville. The Ladybirds moved to 11-13 overall.

The Highlands Ladybirds (2-4) soccer team played South Oldham tough Saturday.

But South Oldham came away with a 1-0 victory on a penalty kick. Highlands freshman goalkeeper Olivia McQueary made eight saves.

The early-season struggles continued for the Highlands Bluebirds soccer team.

The defending 9th Region champion Bluebirds (0-4-1) dropped their fourth in a row falling 2-0 to the Simon Kenton Pioneers at Tower Park. They have scored just one goal in the losing streak.

Highlands, NC advance in 9th Quaterfinals; Volleyball teams win 36th semifinal matches

UNION – Some may have understandably feared the worst entering this 9th Region quarterfinal contest.

Like last year, the Highlands Bluebirds boys soccer team lost in the regular season finale to the Ryle Raiders before dropping the 36th District championship to rival Newport Central Catholic.
