Weekend Round-Up

Ladybird Soccer beats Girls GCL leaders; Volleyball Goes 3-2 in JCIVT

The Highlands Ladybirds soccer team (14-4-1 overall) concluded the regular season with a huge 3-2 victory on the road over the St. Ursula Bulldogs from the Girls Greater Catholic League.

Highlands Volleyball Wins Cake Classic Pool Play Games

Ladybird Volleyball Snatches Elusive Win Over NCC

First Victory over Thoroughbreds since 2012

TAYLOR MILL - Head Coach Katelyn Sallee and staff knew this group could do it.

It just became a matter of proving it. After battling some injuries last week, the Highlands Ladybirds had everyone back Thursday and put together a nice three-day stretch of volleyball going 5-1 to move above .500 on the season at 6-5 overall for the first time this season.

Camels Hand Bluebirds First Loss of Year

The Highlands Bluebirds soccer team lost its first game, 1-0 to visiting Campbell County on Tuesday.

Highlands (4-1) outshot Campbell County (3-1), 16-5. Junior goalkeeper Will Burnham had four saves for the Bluebirds.

Bluebird Soccer Stays Undefeated

The Highlands Bluebirds soccer team (3-0 overall) earned a tight 2-1 road victory over the Oldham County Colonels on Thursday to stay undefeated on the season.

The Highlands Ladybirds volleyball team moved to 1-1 on the season with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-13) win over host Campbell County on Thursday.

The Highlands Bluebirds soccer team shut out Covington Holy Cross, 3-0 at Tower Park on Tuesday to open the season.

2017 Highlands Volleyball Preview

Ladybirds Looking for More Steps in Right Direction

PHOTO: Allen Ramsey, DWCPhoto.com. The Highlands volleyball team has five seniors this year. They are Joy Kapesser (10), Maddie McCoy (14), Skyler Phillips (13), Gracie Schweitzer (2) and Mary Claire Redden (33).
They've been at .500 at 53-53 overall since Katelyn Sallee became the head coach in 2014.

A huge goal Sallee set at the beginning of her tenure was a winning season. After consecutive 17-18 campaigns, the Highlands Ladybirds volleyball team broke through last year with that feat at 19-17 overall. That marked the program's first winning season since 2010.

Highlands volleyball season ends

The volleyball season ended for the Highlands Ladybirds volleyball team (19-17 overall) with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-8) loss to the Cooper Lady Jaguars in the 9th Region quarterfinals on Tuesday at Dixie Heights.

NewCath tops Highlands in classic volleyball battle

Of all the losses in the volleyball series against their rivals on The Hill since 2005, this one might be the toughest.

The Highlands Ladybirds (19-16) took the first two games of the 36th District championship against the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds by 26-24 and 25-1 scores. But the Thoroughbreds (21-14) rallied to take the next three games and win the match, 3-2 by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 15-11.

HHS volleyball, soccer takes down Bellevue

Senior Night went well for the Highlands Ladybirds volleyball team (18-14 overall, 3-1 36th District) with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-10) victory over the Bellevue Lady Tigers on Monday.

Highlands girls soccer, volleyball teams take home wins

Ladybird soccer, volleyball post region wins

The Highlands Ladybirds soccer team made short work of the neighboring Bellevue Lady Tigers with a 14-0 36th District victory Wednesday at Tower Park.

Highlands maintained its best start since 2005 at 6-0 overall with the victory. The Ladybirds moved to 3-0 in 9th Region action in the district opener and have outscored opponents by a combined 30-0.

The Highlands Bluebirds junior varsity football team moved to 2-0 with a 36-16 win at Campbell County on Saturday. Highlands plays Cooper for the second time Saturday in Union at 10 a.m.
