Highlands pounds St. Ursula on Senior Night

The Highlands Ladybirds (15-9 overall) handled the Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Ursula Bulldogs, 56-31 on Thursday on Senior Night.

This year's four Highlands seniors in Haley Coffey, McKenzie Leigh, Izzy Schultz and Brianna Adler all start. Coffey and Leigh led the Ladybirds with 17 and 14 points respectively.

Highlands drew 15 fouls on St. Ursula and made all 18 free throws. Coffey made all nine and Leigh made all five attempts with Zoie Barth going 4-for-4 from the line.

The Ladybirds made 17-of-39 shots for 44 percent including 4-of-14 three-point tries for 28 percent. On the other side, St. Ursula hit 11-of-34 shots for 32 percent including 2-of-11 from three-point range for 18 percent. The Bulldogs also hit 7-of-12 free throws for 58 percent.

Highlands won the rebounding battle huge, 27-15. Leigh led the Ladybirds with six rebounds and Barth had a game-high five assists.

The Ladybirds play at Dixie Heights on Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
