The three Highlands bowlers who qualified for the state singles championship all made the semifinals earning two more games and assuring themselves of a top eight finish.
Bowlers had to finish in the top four in their respective regions to make the state tournament. Highlands senior Jake Farley took third in the boys singles bowling a total of 1,174. Farley shot a 693 to make the semi-finals. Farley also finished third in the state in 2014 with a score of 1,166.
Highlands sophomore Andy Campbell finished seventh in the tournament with a 1,080 score. He finished fifth in the tournament last year shooting a 1,110.
On the girls side, Highlands' Katelyn Schneider shot a total of 976 to take eighth in the tournament. She shot a 633 to make the semi-finals.
Sarah Doyle from Scott County of the 7th Region won the girls tournament shooting an 1,105. South Warren's Kaleb Miller of the 1st Region shot a 1,231 to win the boys' tournament.
The team tournament takes place Friday back at Collins Eastland Lanes in Lexington. Both Highlands teams are searching for their first state championships.
