Whitney Creech helped the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers to two crucial 53rd District victories Wednesday over the winless Cordia Lady Lions scoring 41 and 52 points respectively in the 86-7 and 111-21 doubleheader wins.
Jenkins finished district play at 5-3 to nab the second seed in the district tournament behind Knott County Central. The Lady Cavaliers are 15-12 overall and clinched a winning season for the second time in three years. Jenkins has won four in a row.
Creech upped her state record for the most career points for boys and girls to 5,240 points. Creech has 1,373 on the season for an average of just more than 50.8 per game.
Jenkins concludes the regular season Friday at Betsy Layne.(13-12). Game time is 6 p.m.
