Bluebirds beat Green Devils to advance in district tournament

The Highlands Bluebirds basketball team (7-16 overall) beat the Dayton Greendevils, 74-53 in the four-five game for the third time this season to keep its season alive Monday at Bellevue.

Highlands found itself in the four-five game for the second straight year after going 1-3 in 36th District action this year. Mitch Cain led the Bluebirds with 16 points.

The Bluebirds take on the top-seeded Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds (23-4) in the district semifinals Wednesday back in Bellevue. Game time is 6 p.m.
