Highlands hoops teams record wins

The Highlands Bluebirds basketball team (6-13 overall) ended a four-game losing streak with a 70-62 win over the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts (10-15) on Friday on Senior Night.

The Bluebirds put three players in double digits. Junior Kyle Finfrock led the way with 15 points. Bo Hebel and Mitch Cain followed with 14 and 13 respectively.

Highlands travels to Conner on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.

Basketball, Girls:
Highlands 51, Beechwood 38:

The Ladybirds (17-9) won for the third straight time Friday in Fort Mitchell.

Highlands recorded six steals to five for Beechwood off 13 Lady Tiger turnovers. The Ladybirds turned the ball over just seven times. Brianna Adler, Zoie Barth and Haley Coffey had two steals each.

Barth led the Ladybirds with 20 points and McKenzie Leigh scored 10. Barth made 5-of-6 three-point attempts and Leigh made all four free-throw attempts.

Beechwood (11-12) saw two players reach double digits. Allison Johnson and Kimi Stokes scored 15 each and Johnson had a game-high six rebounds.

Highlands outscored Beechwood, 1.10 to .80 in points per possession. The Ladybirds made 16-of-38 shots for 42 percent including 7-of-17 three-point tries for 41 percent and 12-of-14 free throws for 86 percent.

Beechwood hit 11-of-32 shots for 34 percent including 3-of-9 from three-point range for 33 percent. The Lady Tigers also made 13-of-18 free throws for 72 percent.

Highlands plays host to Conner (19-9) on Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.
