The Highlands Bluebirds softball team (7-5 overall) saw its six-game winning streak snapped in a five-inning 10-0 loss to the Simon Kenton Lady Pioneers (11-11).
Simon Kenton scored two runs in the first at Winkler Field and never looked back. The Lady Pioneers scored seven in the second inning and one in the fifth.
Simon Kenton batted .384 (10-for-26) in the game compared to 2-for-18 for a .111 clip for Highlands. Junior Abby Rust and senior Rachel Gabbard had the two lone Highland singles.
Simon Kenton sophomore Macy Krohman (8-8) and Highlands eighth grader Kennedy Baioni (4-4) pitched complete games. Krohman struck out three.
Freshmen Alexis Baker and Hannah Schwier led Simon Kenton at the plate with two hits each. Schweir had a triple with Baker and sophomore Haley Perry hitting one double each.
Highlands plays host to Middletown (Ohio) on Thursday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
