Highlands took care of Bellevue in one half via the mercy rule outshooting Bellevue, 12-0. Maria Wiefering led the Ladybirds with eight points on three goals and two assists. Lindsey Meyer added two goals with Sophie Steppe, Hannah Gish, Parker Price, Maria Broering, Kaitlyn Meyer and Molly Wiefering scoring once. Broering and Tatum Price also had two assists each with Parker Price and Steppe adding the other assists.
"I think this team will always give 100 percent," said Brian Wiefering, Highlands Head Coach. "Their shots on goal each game reflect this. I just want to see them continue to get better so when they play some of the top teams in the state, they can finish to get the outcome the work so hard for."
Highlands sophomore Maggie Hinegardner and Jasmine Rehberger again split time at goalkeeper. They didn't have to make any saves.
Highlands takes on Dayton in another 36th District game Thursday. Game time is 6 p.m.
