Jenkins senior point guard Whitney Creech scored 50 points in a crucial 64-44 victory over 53rd District and county rival Letcher County Central (4-11) on Friday.
Jenkins (8-7 overall, 2-2 district) earned its second district win of the season and moved above .500. Creech has 4,634 points for her career 767 on the season for an average of just more than 51 per game.
Creech needs 315 more points to pass Highlands Ladybirds Head Coach Jaime Walz-Richey for the most career points in Kentucky history boys and girls. Richey scored 4,948 in her career.
Jenkins next takes on Leslie County (10-4) on Tuesday in the All "A" 14th Region Tournament at Perry County Central. Game time is 6 p.m.
