Bluebirds win Reid Rizzo Classic

The Highlands Bluebirds baseball team moved to 16-4 with two wins in the Reid Rizzo Classic on Sunday.

Highlands knocked off host Cincinnati La Salle, 10-6 in the first game. The Bluebirds moved to 2-0 against Greater Catholic League South opponents with the victory.

Jacob Noe picked up the pitching win for Highlands. In four innings, Noe struck out four and walked two.

Joseph Martin led the Bluebirds at the plate going 4-for-4 with a double, one run and one run batted in. Jake Whitford went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. D.J. Mills added a two-run double.

Highlands ran away from Grove City (Ohio), 17-5 in the second game. The Bluebirds outhit the Bulldogs, 18-12 and Ricky Raisor pitched a complete game striking out four.

The Bluebirds saw Todd Ramey go 3-for-4 with a triple, home run, seven RBI and two runs scored. Brady Murray, Mills, Martin and Mark Walkenhorst added two hits each. Martin doubled twice with Whitford, Murray and Alex Veneman added one double each.

Highlands travels to Bishop Brossart on Monday. Game time is 5 p.m.
