Ladybirds Advance in 36th Tournament

The Highlands Ladybirds (12-16-1 overall) took care of business with an 18-1 three-inning victory over the host Newport Ladycats on Tuesday.

Highlands has advanced to the district championship five years in a row. The Ladybirds have won the title the last three years.

The Ladybirds took advantage of numerous Newport walks. Gracie Schlosser pitched the two innings for Highlands and struck out three.

Highlands takes on Newport Central Catholic on Thursday for the district crown. Game time is 5 p.m. back at Newport High.
