Bluebirds Run-Rule Mustangs

The Highlands Bluebirds baseball team (12-8 overall) took care of business quickly run-ruling the Bishop Brossart Mustangs, 13-3 in five innings in a non-region game.

Sophomore Grady Cramer threw a complete game for the Bluebirds. He struck out seven, walked three and allowed five hits.

Highlands recorded 15 hits. Senior Trey Bowden led the way going 2-for-2 with three runs batted in, two runs scored and a double. Freshman Ethan Kavanagh went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored. Junior Joe Steiden also went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Senior Ethan Doty and junior Jackson Recht also had two hits for Highlands.

The game moved to Highland Park because of the weather. The Bluebirds had seen all three games at the Louisville Invitational Tournament over the weekend rained out.

Highlands plays host to Campbell County on Tuesday. Game time is 5 p.m.

Cooper 20, Highlands 9:

The Ladybirds (6-12-1) fell to 3-4 in 9th Region action with the home loss. They travel to Campbell County on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
