The Newport
Central Catholic Thoroughbred girls put up a good fight against one-loss
Covington Holmes on Monday.
But Holmes (20-1) came away with a 61-59 victory. NewCath (12-8) handled the Holmes press and made seven three-pointers. Ansley Davenport continued her strong play making two three-pointers on her way to 23 points and Michaela Ware scored 13.

balanced scoring led by Amori Gulley with 14 points. Jaynice Stovall and Tyrah
McClendon-Englemon scored 11 each.

Thoroughbreds take on host Bellevue on Wednesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
