The
Highlands Bluebirds girls basketball team continued to roll along to start the
State Farm Classic at Conner on Thursday.
Highlands (6-1)
won its sixth in a row dominating the Louisville Moore Lady Mustangs, 72-41.
The Bluebirds won this tournament last year.
Highlands
led 42-18 at halftime and never looked back. That allowed 12 different
Bluebirds to see some action and every one of them scored.
Alex Combs
paced Highlands with 16 points. She made 6-of-8 shots including a three-pointer
and all three free-throw attempts. Haley Coffey and Lydia Graves followed with
eight points each.
Tyra Jones
led Moore (1-8) with 11 points. Teammate Anastasia Crawford followed with nine
points.
Highlands
recorded 19 steals to six for Moore. Combs, Brianna Adler and Zoie Barth
recorded three each for the Bluebirds.
Highlands
plays twice today in the classic. The Bluebirds face Lexington Henry Clay (3-6)
at 10:30 a.m. and Boone County (6-3) at 5:30 p.m.
