The Highlands Bluebirds baseball team moved to 4-3 on the season with two more wins in Myrtle Beach (South Carolina) Monday.

Highlands beat Thornton Fractional South from Lansing (Illinois), 4-1 before concluding the day with a 3-2 win over Columbus (Ohio) Whetstone. The Bluebirds have no games left in the Cal Ripken Experience.

"It helped us seeing the different teams here and facing certain situations," said Carson Fitters, Highlands senior. "We played a team (Monday) that had really good fielders so we had find ways to hit the ball in the gaps or around them."

Highlands Head Coach Jeremy Baioni said the Whetstone game was scheduled Saturday morning. The Bluebirds went 4-2 on the trip including 2-0 against Kentucky teams.

"We have 23 healthy players," Baioni said. "The biggest thing for us is we got contributions from every player whether it was at the plate, on the mound or in the field."

Highlands plays at Covington Holy Cross on Monday. Game time is 5 p.m.
