Bluebirds win Fifth Straight

Highlands Downs Campbell County in Make-up Game

The Highlands Bluebirds baseball team (5-3 overall) took down the host Campbell County Camels (2-2) by an 8-7 count Friday.

Highlands moved to 3-0 against Kentucky competition. This marked the first game against a team from Northern Kentucky after a number of rain-outs.

"We are always looking to play teams that we know are very talented and can go very deep in the (post-season) tournament," said Jackson Recht, Highlands senior. "It's very important for us to challenge ourselves early in the year to see which guys can step up for us later in the year and be really big contributors in the region and state tournaments. It's great to see high-speed pitching and high velocity because that's what we're going to be seeing later in the year. It's great preparation for us. It was great to pull off this win against a very talented Campbell County team."

Highlands plays host to Dixie Heights on Tuesday. Game time is 5 p.m.
