The Highlands Bluebird girls basketball team (2-1) lost for the first time this year by a 42-25 count to Kokomo (Indiana) Northwestern in the Hoops for Harvest Classic at Dixie Heights on Saturday.

Northwestern held Highlands to 10-of-35 from the field for 29 percent. Freshman Kenzie Nehus led the Bluebirds with eight points. The Bluebirds also made two of just four free throws for 50 percent.

On the other side, the Tigers made 15-of-38 shots for 40 percent and 6-of-8 free throws for 75 percent. Kendall Bostic led Northwestern with 15 points and Madison Layden scored 14.

Rebounding once again hurt Highlands. Northwestern won that battle, 30-21. Bostic led the Tigers with 10 to record a double-double.
