Tuesday Briefs: Highlands soccer, volleyball win

The Highlands Bluebirds soccer team (7-1-2) continues to win at a astounding rate.

Highlands recorded its fourth straight win with a 1-0 victory at Simon Kenton. The Bluebirds also recorded their eighth shutout of the season in the process.

Senior Brandon Zachary scored the game's lone goal in the first half for Highlands. Senior Solomon Farris had his first assist of the season on the score. Zachary has three goals this year.

Highlands outshot Simon Kenton, 14-11. Bluebird goalkeepers Simon Frink and Paul Tully recorded three saves each.

Highlands takes on Dixie Heights on Thursday at Tower Park. Game time is 8 p.m.

Volleyball:
Highlands 3, Bishop Brossat 0:

The Ladybirds moved to 8-8 on the season with a convincing 3-0 win (25-17, 25-17, 25-11) on the road. Senior outside hitter Lauren Epperson led Highlands with 12 kills and 19 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Margot Seidel had nine kills and junior defensive specialist Gracie Schweitzer had 16 digs.

They take on St. Henry in Erlanger on Wednesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
