That trend expected to continue Tuesday against the overmatched Newport squads and nothing short of that happened in the 36th semifinals. The Ladybirds (20-10 overall) took care of the Ladycats, 18-0 in three innings at Winkler Field and the Bluebirds (19-17) bested the Wildcats, 14-0 in five innings at Highland Park.
The Ladybirds have outscored district opponents, 74-0 and the Bluebirds have outscored district opponents, 39-0. The only difference is the Newport and Dayton squads forfeited to Highlands during the regular season so they are listed as 7-0 Bluebird wins.
