The Highlands Ladybirds equaled last year's win total with a 2-1 win over Simon Kenton on Senior Night on Monday.

Highlands (12-7) honored six Ladybird seniors before the game. They are defender Hayley Crothers, forward Ellie Farley, midfielder Lauren Ossege, defender Megan Reynolds, midfielder Kylie Schuermann and center midfielder Madalyn Wiefering.

The first Highlands goal came on a corner kick by Kayla Nehus. She bent the ball in and the Simon Kenton defender hit it up under the post for an own goal.

Lindsey Meyer scored the second goal. It started when Sydney Ossege beat four defenders down the sideline and crossed the ball to Meyer. Meyer fakes the shot to draw the goalkeeper out. Meyer dribbled around her and finished.

Highlands Head Coach Brian Wiefering called daughter Madalyn the Ladybird defensive player of the game. She headed out between eight and 10 balls before leaving with an injury. She collided with a Simon Kenton player going after the ball.

The Ladybirds take on Beechwood in the last game of the regular season Thursday at Tower Park. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
