Highlands moved to 7-6 overall and 1-1 in 36th District action. The Ladybirds had not been above .500 since opening the season with wins over Conner and Cincinnati Anderson.
Karolyn Lukjan led Highlands with two goals. Claudia Hils, Ellie Farley, Haley Dougherty, Isabella Thomas, Kylie Stava, Lauren Ossege, Lindsey Meyer and Madalyn Wiefering had one goal each. Meyer added two assists and Kaitlyn Meyer had the other.
Highlands takes on Notre Dame at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Ladybirds are 1-8 against the Pandas since their last region championship in 2010.
Soccer, Boys:
Highlands 9, George Rogers Clark 1:
Colton Wagoner had two goals and two assists as Highlands moved to 6-7-2 with the road win.
Noah Sellers, Ben Schweitzer, Ben Seiter, Jasper Noble, Ethan Mills, Brady Gesenhues and Solomon Farris had goals for the Bluebirds. Nick Gish had two assists along with Farris, Gesenhues, Noble and Schweitzer.
Highlands travels to Dixie Heights on Saturday. Game time is 8 p.m.
