Saturday Roundup: Bluebird JV Football improves to 3-0

The Highlands Junior Varsity football team defeated Cooper for the second time in as many tries Saturday.


The Bluebirds moved to 3-0 on the season with a 30-26 win. Highlands also beat Cooper, 38-24 to open the season Aug. 22.

Highlands takes on Ryle in Union on Saturday. Game time is 10 a.m.

Soccer, Boys:
Highlands 6, Louisville St. Francis 0:

The Bluebirds recorded their second shutout of the season with a win.

Brady Gesenhues led Highlands with four goals. Ethan Mills and Ben Schweitzer scored the other two. Noah Sellers and Ben Workman had one assist each.

Highlands (2-5-1) is off to a better start than last year. The Bluebirds started last season 0-6-3.

The Bluebirds face Covington Holy Cross on Tuesday at Tower Park. Game time is 8 p.m.

Volleyball:
Ladybirds drop three on second day of September Slam:

Highlands fell to 5-7 on the season with three losses at Scott. The Ladybirds lost to Oldham County, 2-0 (30-28, 25-16), Simon Kenton, 2-0 (25-16, 25-16) and Pulaski Southwestern, 2-1 (16-25, 25-22, 22-25).

Highlands faces St. Henry on Tuesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
