The
Highlands Ladybirds volleyball team (6-8) handled the Dayton Lady Devils, 2-0
(25-5m 25-12) in its first 36th District contest of the year.
Jessica
Ginter again led the Ladybirds with six kills and five digs with setter Kaitlin
Hall adding 14 assists. Izzy Schultz had four aces.
Highlands
does not play again until Tuesday. The Ladybirds take on the Beechwood Lady
Tigers at 7 p.m.
Volleyball:
Newport Central Catholic 3, Bellevue 0:
The
Thoroughbreds (4-5) moved to 3-0 in 36th District action with a 25-18, 25-12,
25-15 win on the road. Rachel McDonald led the way for NewCath with 15 kills
and 16 digs with Keyaira Lankheit making eight kills. Setter Mikah Freppon had
25 assists and four aces.
NewCath
plays in the Louisville Volleyball Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Soccer, Girls:
Cincinnati Anderson 2, Highlands 1:
The
Ladybirds (3-5) suffered their fourth one-goal loss of the season. Anderson
scored in the last four minutes of the game.
“I really felt for the girls because our girls might
have played the best soccer this year,”
said Brian Wiefering, Highlands Head Coach. “We simply made a few mistakes and they capitalized both times.”
Taylor
Vaughn scored the lone Highlands goal. Kayla Nehus had the assist. Wiefering
also said Kiersten Clukey played a great game at midfield.
Highlands
takes on Newport Central Catholic at 5 p.m. Friday.
