Sophomore
Kayla Nehus scored the other Highlands goal. She dribbled through three
defenders and finished far post.
“I got a little too lax in the second half putting
some girls in positions that aren’t their primary positions,” said Brian Wiefering, Highlands Head Coach. “Within about 10 minutes in the second
half, Dixie scored a goal on a quick counter and then a penalty kick that the
ref called a handball that I didn’t see anything close to a handball. I
reorganized girls in their starting positions and we kept the ball on our
offensive half the last 10 minutes. That’s a lesson learned for a rookie coach.”
Once again freshman Olivia McQueary and sophomore Shannon Eaton played the first and second halves respectively in the net. Defensively, senior Peyton Bankemper marked Dixie standout Lauren Nemoroff.
