Highlands
head coach Brian Wiefering said the team had to adjust when Woodford County
went to a 3-5-3 (defender-midfielder-forward) attack. But the Ladybirds held
them off. Olivia McQueary played goal in the first half and Shannon Eaton the
second. Wiefering also credited defenders like Peyton Bankemper, Sophie Steppe,
Haley Crothers and Lydia Graves for playing solid defense in the back.
“The Birds are playing together as a team the past
three games and starting to gel,”
Wiefering said. “It’s been a very
positive atmosphere for them and it’s fun to watch.”
The
Ladybirds travel to Dixie Heights on Monday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
