The Highlands Bluebirds boys golf team played in the Mason County Invitational at Laurel Oaks Golf Club in Maysville on Saturday and took third out of 10 teams.
The Bluebirds shot 299. Mason County and St. Henry tied for first at 297. But the Royals had the better fifth score to win the tournament. Clay County took fourth at 303.
Highlands senior Justin Gabbard led the way with 69 tying for second with Montgomery County's Logan McCormick. Lewis County's Logan Lies earned medalist honors shooting 66 for six-under par.
Sophomore Joel Craft shot 71 and senior Luke Muller shot 72. Eighth grader Hank Shick shot 86 to finish the scoring and freshman Ryan Toole shot 91.
Highlands takes on Covington Catholic on Monday in a dual match at Highland Country Club. Tee time is 3:15 p.m.
