The Bluebirds had done well in recent games taking great approaches at the plate and manufacturing runs. But Dixie Heights sophomore pitcher Zachary Harris limited the Bluebirds to just four hits in 25 at-bats for a .160 batting average in a 2-1 Colonel win. Harris had 11 strikeout and no walks.
Highlands junior Brennan Haigis also threw a complete game. He limited Dixie Heights to just 6-for-21 for a .286 average. Haigis walked one. But the Colonels made their two runs in the second inning stand up.
Senior Bryce Ziegler led Highlands at the plate going 2-for-3. Seniors Chris Bridewell and Nolan Turner had the other two singles.
Highlands plays at Cincinnati (Ohio) Elder on Thursday. Game time is 5 p.m.
