Highlands Tennis Season Ends

Hodory, Laskey Win First Singles Match Before Losing in Second Round

The Highlands tennis teams sent one representative down to the state tournament at the University of Kentucky in each group Thursday.

The Highlands singles players won one game before losing in the second round and both doubles teams lost in the first round. In singles action, freshman Peter Laskey beat Paducah Tilghman senior Matthew Jones, 7-5, 7-5 before losing 6-2, 6-1 to Greenwood eighth grader Jacks Lancaster. Highlands senior Brooke Hodory beat Boyle County senior Mia Kendrick, 6-1, 6-3 before losing to Kentucky Country Day freshman Sarah Fazlagic, 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles play, Highlands freshman Matthew Erickson and seventh grader John Laskey lost in the first round to Campbell County seniors Chris Fox and Mason Nelses, 6-3, 6-3. The Highlands girls doubles duo of junior Elizabeth Schwalbach and freshman Rachel Hoffman lost to the Daviess County duo of seniors Jaclyn and Bailey Hume, 6-2, 6-1.

Several seniors graduate for Highlands. They are Hodory, Ashtyn Heiert and Caleb Chambers.
