“It took a while for the girls to get adjusted to the
grass, which was thick and long – very different from all the games played on
turf this year,” said Brian
Wiefering, Highlands Head Coach. “Everyone
contributed. It was not as pretty to watch on that thick grass and very bumpy
field, but I am happy they walked away with a win and no injuries.”

Sophomore
Kayla Nehus scored both goals in the second half for Highlands. Kiersten Clukey

shooting a 69 on Tuesday.

had a good start. I didn’t boggie (one-over par) until I got to (the 12th
hole). I didn’t put myself in stressful situations.”
The Region
8 championship took place at the Eagle Creek Country Club in Crittenden.
Bourbon County captured the region crown and Mason County finished second.
“This is my last chance so I’m definitely going down
there to win,” Harris said. “(I’ll need) two of my best days of golf.
The state is a lot more open than last year. But there’s still a bunch of good
players to compete with.”
