It may have
taken four games.
But when that first victory came for the Highlands Ladybirds volleyball team Tuesday, it was huge. Highlands (1-3) ventured to Independence and beat the Simon Kenton Lady Pioneers, 3-2 (25-15, 17-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-13). Simon Kenton is the alma mater of Highlands Head Coach Katelyn Sallee.
Senior Jessica Ginter led Highlands with 19 kills and Kaitlin Hall had 38 assists. Ellie Van Curen and Ginter followed with 14 and 13 digs respectively.

defending 9th Region champs (0-2-1) are still searching for their first win of
the season following a lightning-shortened game.
Nick
Breslin made two saves for Highlands.
Highlands
plays host to Cincinnati McNicholas on Thursday. Game time is 8 p.m.
NewCath-St. Henry game postponed:
Rain forced
a postponement of the NewCath-St. Henry All “A” 9th Region contest.
The
Thoroughbreds (2-0-1) led 1-0 with 26 minutes left in the first half. The game
restarts Wednesday.
