The Highlands Bluebirds soccer game against St. Henry was cancelled Thursday.

Highlands (0-0-1) faces 2013 runner-up Louisville Trinity on Saturday. Game time is 11 a.m.

Soccer, Boys:

Newport Central Catholic 1, Simon Kenton 1:

The Thoroughbreds (0-0-1) opened the season with a tie against the Pioneers.

NewCath travels to East Jessamine on Saturday as part of Visitnich.com Soccerama. Game time is 9 a.m.

Soccer, Girls:

Lexington Catholic 5, Highlands 0:

The Lady Knights came to Tower Park and posted the shutout. Highlands fell to 1-1 with the loss.

Highlands takes on defending state champion Notre Dame on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Tower Park.

Volleyball:

Kings (Ohio) 3, Highlands 2:

The Ladybirds fell to 0-2 with a tough home loss to Kings (Ohio), 3-2 (25-16, 17-25, 29-27, 21-25, 7-15).

Highlands travels to Conner on Tuesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

NewCath drops two:

The Thoroughbreds (0-3) played host to Mother of Mercy (Ohio) and Lexington Henry Clay and dropped both matches. Mother of Mercy won 2-0 (25-12, 25-15) and Henry Clay won by the same score (25-17, 25-19).

NewCath plays host to Campbell County on Monday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
