Creech hits 4,800 career points in loss to Magoffin County

Jenkins senior 5-foot-9-inch guard Whitney Creech hit 4,800 points for her career against Magoffin County on Tuesday with 38 points.

But the Lady Cavaliers fell to 9-10 on the season with a 72-58 loss to the Lady Hornets in the One-Day Showcase at Pike County Central in a make-up game cancelled Saturday because of snow. Magoffin County (10-6) won the 15th Region Tournament in 2012 and beat Ashland Blazer (63-59) in the state tournament before losing 72-59 to Lincoln County.

Creech has 949 points on the season and 4,816 for her career. Her average is just more than 49.9 points per game. She needs just 133 points to surpass Highlands Head Coach Jaime Walz-Richey for the Kentucky record for boys and girls for the most points in a career of 4,948.

Jenkins plays host to Pikeville on Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
