The Highlands Bluebirds baseball team lost to Elizabeth (NJ) on Thursday at Myrtle Beach.

The Bluebirds (7-7) have dropped two straight after winning the first three to start the trip. They conclude the seven-game stretch with games against Lenape (NJ) at Noon and Akron Archbishop Hoban (Ohio) at 3p.m.

St. Henry softball 7, NCC 1:

Noelle Butts threw a one-hitter to lift the host Lady Crusaders past the Thoroughbreds (3-3) on Thursday.

The only run for NewCath came in the third. Christine Enzweiler reached on an error, moved to second on a passed ball, third on a ground out and scored when Molly Mertle grounded out. The game was tied at one at that point.

Taylor Burkhart pitched the first two innings before Sarah Neace pitched the next four. The duo struck out nine. Amanda Schabell picked up the lone hit for NewCath.

St. Henry did not pull away until the fifth inning. The Lady Crusaders scored five runs in that frame.

NewCath does not play again until Monday. The Thoroughbreds play host to Dixie Heights at 5 p.m.
