The
Highlands Ladybirds basketball team won its fifth in a row with a home 51-42
victory over the Dixie Heights Lady Colonels on Saturday.
Highlands (22-3) had to hit from outside and did just that. The Ladybirds connected on 10-of-21 three-point tries for 48 percent and 13-of-34 overall shots for 38 percent. Brianna Adler led the way there making 4-of-6 shots from beyond the arc on her way to 18 points with Lydia Graves making 3-of-4 on her way to 13 points.

Dixie
Heights received a double-double from senior post Liza Tibbs. She recorded 20
points and 10 rebounds.
Highlands
made the most of its free throws. The Ladybirds hit 15-of-18 for 83 percent.
Dixie
Heights took six fewer shots making 15-of-28 for 54 percent, including 3-of-6
from outside for 50 percent. The Lady Colonels also made 9-of-14 free throws
for 64 percent.
Highlands
travels to Cincinnati St. Ursula on Monday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Basketball, Boys:
Newport Central Catholic 64, Beechwood 29:
The
Thoroughbreds took care of another 9th Region opponent on The Hill to move to
23-3 overall.
NewCath saw
another big game from Ben Weyer with 16 points. Senior point guard Zack
Pangallo added 11.
The
Thoroughbreds travel to Bellevue on Wednesday to finish 36th District action.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
