The Newport
Central Catholic Thoroughbreds girls basketball team started the season on the
right track Wednesday.
NewCath took down Cooper, 58-52 in a 9th Region contest. The Thoroughbreds saw three players reach double-digits. Ansley Davenport and Loren Zimmerman made six free-throw attempts each on their way to 16 and 11 points respectively. Michaela Ware added 10. Sarah Neace scored six points on 2-of-3 shooting from three-point range.
The Thoroughbreds play host to Dayton on Saturday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
