Thursday Roundup: Football Freshmen move to 2-1 with win

PHOTO: Allen Ramsey, DWCPhoto.com. The Highlands Freshman team defeated Cooper, 27-0 Thursday. The Bluebirds moved to 2-1 with the win.
The Highlands Ladybirds volleyball team moved above .500 at 4-3 on the season with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-10, 25-18) win over visiting Bishop Brossart on Thursday.

Lauren Epperson led Highlands with nine kills and three aces. Setter Emma Little had 16 assists and nine digs with Maria Hockney recording three blocks.

Highlands in the September Slam at Scott on Friday and Saturday. The Ladybirds face Oldham County at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Soccer, Girls:
Cincinnati Seton 3, Highlands 2:

The Ladybirds (3-3) have been close, but have not been able to take down any opponents from the Greater Catholic League South this season. They dropped a 1-0 decision at Ursuline on Saturday to fall to 0-2 against that league.

Freshmen Lindsey Meyer and Haley Dougherty scored the Highlands goals. Meyer and Kiersten Clukey had assists. Clukey leads the team with four assists on the season.

Highlands plays host to Boone County on Thursday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Soccer, Boys:
Scott 1, Highlands 0:

The Bluebirds (1-5-1) lost on the road to the defending state runner-up. This marked the first time Highlands had been shut out this season.

Highlands takes on Louisville St. Francis on Saturday at Tower Park. Game time is 10:30 a.m.

Football, Freshman:
Highlands 27, Cooper 0:

The Bluebirds improved to 2-1 with a home win. Highlands takes on Campbell County in Alexandria on Thursday. Game time is 6 p.m.
