Weekly Round-up: Bluebird JV Football moves to 2-0

The Highlands Bluebirds junior varsity football team moved to 2-0 with a 36-16 win at Campbell County on Saturday. Highlands plays Cooper for the second time Saturday in Union at 10 a.m.

The Highlands Freshman team improved to 1-1 on the season with a 32-6 win over Lexington Catholic on Thursday in Fort Thomas. Highlands plays Cooper on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Fort Thomas.

Volleyball:
Ladybirds go 1-1 in middle of week:

Highlands took out visiting Simon Kenton, 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23) Wednesday. Seniors Maria Hockney and Anna Marie Houliston led Highlands with six kills each and Emma Little had 15 digs. Senior Malorie Hegge led Highlands with three blocks with Houliston and Izzy Schultz recording three aces each.

The Ladybirds hit the road Thursday and lost 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 29-27, 25-16) at Kings. Lauren Epperson led Highlands with nine kills and 26 digs. Little had 19 assists.

Highlands plays at Newport on Tuesday. Game time is 7 p.m.

Soccer, Girls:
Ladybirds move to 2-1 on season:

On Thursday, Highlands handled Cincinnati Anderson, 3-1 playing its first game in 10 days before losing 1-0 at Cincinnati Ursuline Academy on Saturday. Highlands plays at Campbell County on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Soccer, Boys:
Bluebirds drop all three contests:

Highlands played tough competition and lost all three contests on the road. It started with a 2-1 loss at Cincinnati Anderson on Tuesday and continued with a 6-1 loss at Cincinnati McNicholas. The Bluebirds then lost 8-1 to Louisville Trinity on Saturday.

Highlands travels to Boone Country on Tuesday. Game time is 8 p.m.
