The
Highlands Ladybirds basketball team earned its 20th win of the year on the road
Monday.
The
Ladybirds faced the Bracken County Lady Bears (14-6) and pulled off a 51-40 win
in a make-up contest. They are 20-5 with their sixth straight win.
Highlands
again won at the free-throw line. The Ladybirds made 23-of-29 attempts for 79
percent compared to 13-of-21 for 62 percent for the Lady Bears.
The
Ladybird posts led the way. Alex Combs scored 13 points and McKenzie Leigh
recorded a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. Lydia Graves followed
making 7-of-8 free throws on her way to nine points.
Highlands
hit 13-of-43 shots for 30 percent, including 2-of-11 three-point tries for 18
percent. Bracken County made 13-of-45 shots for 29 percent, but just 1-of-12
three-pointers for eight percent.
The Lady
Bears saw two players reach double-digits. They were Jordan Willis and Bailey Cummins
with 16 and 13 points respectively.
Highlands
plays another make-up contest Wednesday. The Ladybirds play host to Lloyd
Memorial at 5 p.m.
