The Newport
Central Catholic Thoroughbreds volleyball team won its third game in three
days, 3-1 (13-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-16) over the visiting Conner Lady Cougars on
Wednesday.
NewCath
continued its outstanding all-around play. Setter Alyssa Maier had 21 assists
and 10 digs with Rachel McDonald recording 13 kills and nine digs. Keyaira
Lankheit followed with eight kills with teammates Laura Brannon and Nikki
Kiernan adding three aces each.
NewCath
concludes the season with three tough games. That starts Monday at undefeated
Louisville Mercy. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Lady
Breds (12-2-4) recorded their second straight scoreless tie to finish the regular
season on Wednesday in Independence.
NewCath
also tied Conner on Saturday. NewCath has gone 0-1-2 since winning the All “A”
State championship and beating rival Highlands, 2-1.
Meg Martin
recorded three saves in net for NewCath.
The Lady
Breds will face Highlands for the 36th District title next week at Tower Park.
The game will take place Wednesday or Thursday.
