Highlands boys soccer, NC volleyball win

The Highlands Bluebirds boys soccer team continued its run of success with a 3-0 win over the Cooper Jaguars on Senior Night.

Highlands has won to 11 of its last 13 games to improve to 13-5-1 overall. The Bluebirds finished the year 7-2 at Tower Park.

Chris Garbig scored once and leads the Bluebirds with 13 goals. Colin Dean and Brady Gesenhues scored the other two.

Nathan Tippenhauer played the entire game at goalkeeper for Highlands. He stopped all seven Cooper shots for the shutout.

The Bluebirds conclude the regular season at Ryle on Thursday. Game time is 8 p.m.

Volleyball:
Newport Central Catholic 3, Newport 0:

The Thoroughbreds (13-13 overall, 4-0 district) completed another undefeated run through the 36th District regular season with a convincing 25-6, 25-8, 25-8 win over visiting Newport on Tuesday.

NewCath returns to action today. The Thoroughbreds play host to Conner at 7:30 p.m.
