Improvements for Ladybird Softball

Highlands Records Second Win on Road

The first four opponents had scored at least nine runs against the Blue and White.

But on Tuesday, the Highlands Ladybirds softball team (2-3 overall) held the host South Oldham Lady Dragons to one-third of that in a 5-3 non-region win. The win snapped a two-game Highlands losing streak.

"(The win) was big," said Rob Coffey, Highlands Head Coach. "(We're) finally starting to put all the parts together. We have a long way to go, but plenty of time to get there."

Seventh-grader Gracie Schlosser picked up her first varsity win for the Ladybirds. She struck out four.

Highlands won the game with two in the top of the seventh. Ella Grimm and Taylar Lorenzen had big hits in that inning and Josie Daley added a double off the left-field wall.

"We came together as one at the end," Grimm said. "Our positivity increased and the bench was loud. Everyone needs to stay in the game. In our region games last year, everyone participated and led us to those wins. That's what we need throughout the year."

Highlands travels to Dixie Heights on Monday. Game time is 5 p.m.
