The lone run for Highlands came in the bottom of the first inning. Haley Coffey beat out a grounder to shortstop and Brennah Dutcher doubled her home.
Pitcher Bailey Spencer had six strikeouts, a walk and hit two batters for Highlands. The Ladybirds had four hits and committed five errors.
Highlands plays host to Campbell County on Tuesday. Game time is 5 p.m.

Highlands drops two at Moeller:
The Bluebirds (1-3 overall) dropped two to Ohio competition on Saturday.
Highlands opened the day with a 3-0 loss to Cincinnati Moeller. Moeller pitcher Nick Bennett threw a complete game for the Crusaders with 11 strikeouts. Ricky Raisor (1-1) took the loss for the Bluebirds striking out five.
The Crusaders outhit the Bluebirds, 6-2. Kyle Rust had both Highlands hits.
The Bluebirds then lost to Strongsville, 2-1. Highlands managed just one hit on a Trey Bowden single.
Drew Rom (1-1) took the loss for Highlands. He pitched six innings and struck out seven.
Highlands travels to Cooper on Monday. Game time is 5 p.m.
