Monday Briefs: Highlands, Dayton soccer pushed back one day

The Highlands Ladybirds (13-7) took on Dayton to open the 36th District Tournament.

The game was postponed with 36:52 left in the game. Highlands led 7-0 needing three more goals to force the goal-ruling. It will continue at 4:30 p.m.

Top-seeded Newport Central Catholic takes on Bellevue after that then Highlands takes on Newport Central Catholic in the 36th District boys championship.

Volleyball:
Highlands 3, Dixie Heights 0:

The Ladybirds won their second straight, 3-0 (25-15, 28-26, 25-16) over the visitors from Crestview Hills to move to 15-17 on the season.

Anna Marie Houliston led Highlands with seven kills. Lauren Epperson had four aces, 13 assists and 13 digs with Emma Little tallying 13 assists for the Ladybirds.

Highlands plays at Covington Holy Cross on Thursday to conclude the regular season. Game time is 7 p.m.
