For two straight days, the number 66 found itself on the Blue and White side of the scoreboard when the clock struck zero.

That offensive output proved to be more than enough in two convincing Highlands Bluebirds girls hoops victories. The Bluebirds (16-6 overall) ran their winning streak to five in a row with a 66-49 win over the Louisville Assumption Rockets (7-14) on Saturday.

Highlands again saw three players score in double figures. Junior Zoie Barth again led the way with 27 points making 12-of-13 free throws to go with six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Teammates Brooke Dill and Rory O'Hara followed with 10 each. Dill added seven rebounds and four steals.

Highlands led 25-17 at halftime and 43-35 entering the fourth quarter. But the Bluebirds pulled away in the fourth quarter building the lead to 20 at one point.

"It was a really physical game," said Audrey Graves, Highlands sophomore guard. "I feel just the mental toughness of all of our players really helped us pull through with that."

Highlands won the rebounding battle, 28-27 and recorded 14 steals off 19 Assumption turnovers. The Rockets had five steals off 10 Bluebird turnovers. Junior Ashley Hayes added three steals and junior Chloe Jansen had two.

The Bluebirds hit 20-of-46 shots for 44 percent including 3-of-12 three-point shots for 25 percent and 23-of-29 free throws for 79 percent. On the other side, Assumption made 13-of-38 shots for 34 percent including 7-of-16 three-point tries for 44 percent and 16-of-22 free throws for 73 percent.

Sophomore Payton Cronen led Assumption with 17 points making 3-of-6 three-point tries. Junior Abby McQueary followed with 11.

Highlands plays host to Notre Dame (7-13) on Monday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
