Highlands Volleyball Wins 20th of Season

Bluebirds Best Apollo, Lose to Collins

The Highlands Bluebirds volleyball team ventured to Louisville on Friday and split the two games in the Jefferson County Invitational Volleyball Tournament at the Ohio Valley Volleyball Center.

Highlands (20-7 overall) defeated Owensboro Apollo, 2-1 (25-20, 23-25, 27-25) in a tight win before losing to Collins, 2-0 (25-14, 25-15). Against Collins, Highlands senior outside hitter Margot Seidel had seven kills and eight digs. Junior setter Audrey Graves had 15 assists and 12 digs with senior libero Olivia Gessner contributing 14 digs and an ace.

Against Apollo, Highlands had 39 kills, 13 aces, three blocks and 64 digs. Seidel had 12 kills, four aces and 15 digs. Gessner had 19 digs and two aces and Graves had 30 assists and nine digs. Junior Rylee Kirschenbaum had 10 digs and four aces. Hockney had two solo blocks, three aces and 11 kills.

The tournament concludes Saturday.
