The Highlands Ladybirds softball team (1-1 overall) earned its first win of the season rallying past host Loveland (Ohio) by an 18-15 count Wednesday.

Highlands trailed late in the game. But the Ladybirds scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to pull out the win.

"They have a high ceiling and we keep seeing them inch their way up and up," said Rob Coffey, Highlands Head Coach. "We do all kinds of things in the early season to test kids and put them in challenging situations. We have always done that and we feel it pays off for us in the long run. We look at our regular season as 36 scrimmages (to) prepare for (the) postseason."

Highlands travels to Harrison County (1-2) on Thursday. Game time is 6 p.m.
